Shiatsu is a form of Japanese bodywork, based on the theoretical framework of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Masunaga_Meridiane
In the Japanese language, shiatsu means „finger pressure“. Shiatsu techniques include massages with fingers, thumbs, feet and palms; assisted stretching; and joint manipulation and mobilization.

Shiatsu can correct internal malfunctions, promote and maintain health, and treat specific diseases. The techniques used in shiatsu include stretching, holding, and most commonly, leaning body weight into various points along key channels.
Shiatsu derives from a Japanese massage modality called anma which was itself adapted from TUI NA.

How can Shiatsu help?

Shiatsu can support your immune system and any kind of healing process.
It gives you time and room to relax and calm down from daily stress and hectic life.

It helps to release tensions in your neck or back. It  brings balance to your mental and physical state and helps energy to flow again freely through your body.

It can physically support your Psychotherapy or soothe depression and anxieties.

Shiatsu is a way to better get to know yourself and your body. You could even start to feel more alive and happy with your circumstances in your life.

What happens during a Shiatsu Treatment?

The treatment takes place in a nice and quiet room in the first floor of my Shiatsu office. It normally lasts about 1 hour.

Before the treatment, we will have a short talk about your wishes, problems (any pains or sensitive areas)  and expectations.

Then you lie (all dressed up) on a big, comfortable mat (2 meters x 2,5 meters) on the floor. You can choose between lying on your stomach, your back or on your side – whatever feels most comfortable for you. After making a short “Hara diagnosis” (checks the present distribution of energy in your body), I will start treating you with different kind of Shiatsu techniques:

– Leaning (with my hands, thumbs, elbows and knies)
– Rotating (your arms, legs, limbs, shoulders etc.)
– Stretching (your arms, legs, back etc.)
– Facia body work (working with your facia by holding and releasing trapped energy and tension)Dehnung Arm1
After the treatment, you will feel relaxed, calm and balanced.
Please, drink a lot of water afterwards, to support the movement of energy in your body.
